Location and the Kaditz district

Location and the Kaditz district

Kaditz belongs to the Pieschen district and lies in the north-west of Dresden, right on the Elbe. The neighbourhood combines village charm with quick links to the big city. Around the historic village centre you will find quiet streets, plenty of greenery and the Elbwiesen riverside meadows just around the corner. Everyday essentials are well covered: restaurants, bakeries and supermarkets are in the immediate vicinity, and the large Elbepark Dresden shopping and leisure centre is just a stone's throw away.

To the centre in 20 minutes on tram line 9

Leave your motorhome parked and travel comfortably by tram. Tram line 9 connects Kaditz with the city centre without changing. In around 20 minutes you are at Postplatz, right in the middle of Dresden's Altstadt. It is no coincidence that line 9 is nicknamed the "shopping line", as it takes you just as directly to the Elbepark as into the historic city centre. This way you can explore Dresden without searching for parking or battling inner-city traffic.

Shopping: Elbepark Dresden right next door

The Elbepark Dresden is one of the largest shopping centres in the region. Under one roof you will find numerous shops for fashion, electronics and toiletries, as well as places to eat. Whether a quick shop to restock your travel kitchen or a relaxed stroll on a rainy day, everything is just a few minutes from your pitch. Parking there is free.

Sights in Dresden

Dresden, the Florence on the Elbe, is one of the most beautiful baroque cities in Europe. In the Altstadt the world-famous Frauenkirche awaits you, along with the Zwinger and its museums, the Semperoper, the Residenzschloss and the Brühlsche Terrasse, the Balcony of Europe overlooking the Elbe. There is history to discover right on your doorstep, too. The Kaditzer Linde, with an estimated age of up to 1,000 years, is considered the oldest tree in Dresden and the landmark of the district. Right beside it stands the Emmauskirche, a village church with origins in the 13th century. In neighbouring Übigau the baroque Schloss Übigau, once a pleasure palace of August the Strong, invites you to linger right on the banks of the Elbe.

Activities around the pitch

If you love being active, this is the ideal place to start. The Elberadweg, one of the most popular long-distance cycle routes in Europe, runs right through Kaditz and Mickten. From here you can cycle on flat terrain downstream into the Sächsisches Elbland with its vineyards around Radebeul, or upstream through the Altstadt to Schloss Pillnitz. The Elbwiesen riverside meadows invite you to take a walk, and in summer sheep even graze here. For day trips, the Sächsische Schweiz with its spectacular rock formations is well worth a visit and easy to reach from Dresden. Families, hikers and cyclists alike will find plenty to enjoy around the pitch.
